Sakura Cove

Persona -trinity soul-

This anime is the sequel of the PS2 game Persona 3, taking place ten years after the game's events.  The show is produced by Aniplex and is animated by its A-1 Pictures animation studio.  The series released in Japan in January of this year.

The show is set in Ayanagi City, which is near the Sea of Japan.  The city is slightly futuristic and was built to recover from the calamity of "Apathy Syndrome" that occurred ten years earlier.  The story is mostly revolved around the three brothers of the Kanzato family.  The eldest brother is named Ryou, who is the chief of the police department.  The high school student, Shin, doesn't exactly get along with his older brother.  Lastly, the youngest brother is named Jun.  Shin and Jun move in with their older brother after being apart for ten years.  When they arrive and get settled in, a series of strange incidents start to occur around the city.  Shin starts to wonder if Ryou knows more than he says he does.  Through the process of investigating, Shin and Jun awaken to their "Personas."

The art/animation is wonderful, in my opinion.  The character design is different, but presented rather well.  Even though the Personas are not summoned in the way they were in the game, it is still a new and refreshing way to show them.  For those who have played the Persona games on the first PlayStation console, you'll be happy to know that the summoning of Personas are done the traditional way in this series.  Japanese voice acting is always great.  I absolutely love the voice actors who were chosen for this show!!  It makes the show easier and enjoyable to watch, without having to grimace every time the character says something.

The opening and ending themes are very well-done.  The imagery presented with the songs fit perfectly in my opinion.  Also, the song themselves were very nice to listen to anyway.  The opening theme is called "Breakin' Through" done by Shuuhei Kita.  The ending theme is called "SUICIDES LOVE STORY" done by Nana Kitade.  Even though I haven't seen them yet, the other themes are "WORD OF THE VOICE" by FLOW and "Found Me" by Yumi Kawamura.

Now, the regular soundtrack throughout the episodes are wonderfully composed.  Not only are the songs well-presented through the show, it will make a fan smile when they hear a song from the Persona 3 game playing in the background.  The soundtrack was composed by Taku Iwasaki and Shoji Meguro.
